ESFRI-EOSC-Workshop-federation
Milan, Italy
18.11.2024 to 19.11.2024

The ESFRI-EOSC Task Force is organising a Policy Workshop on “Prototyping The EOSC Federation: Nodes And Linkages”.

We are now entering a pivotal phase in the development of the EOSC!

Following a thorough discussion on the key elements shaping the EOSC Federation and its core operational features – currently being tested through the EOSC EU Node – a set of requirements for potential Nodes has been produced. Based on responses to a Questionnaire issued by the EOSC Tripartite, several potential Thematic Nodes have emerged to engage in the building up of the Federation. Many of those expressions of interest and readiness to engage in the EOSC Federation are from Research Infrastructures included in the ESFRI Roadmap and Landscape Analysis.

This invitation-only workshop in Milano will convene key stakeholders to discuss the features and needs of these potential candidate Nodes, ensuring their effective integration into the foundational development of the EOSC Federation.

Please note that participation requires in-person attendance.

Attendees will include members of the ESFRI-EOSC Task Force, the EOSC Steering Board, representatives from the European Commission (DG-RTD, DG-CNECT), the EOSC Association Board, the speakers, and experts.

The workshop is being organized by the ESFRI-EOSC Task Force, with support from the StR-ESFRI3 project.

Lunch & Greetings

The Sala di Rappresentanza is situated within the headquarters of the University of Milano, housed in the historic “Ca’ Granda” (“The Grand House”). Originally built in 1456 by Francesco I Sforza, Duke of Milano, this Renaissance-era complex, along with the surrounding historical buildings in the heart of the city, forms a significant architectural ensemble. It has been home of the University of Milano for the past 100 years.

How to reach the venue:

Sala di Rappresentanza is at walking distance from the Duomo di Milano. It is therefore in the very centre of the city, which you can easily get around using public transport (ATM, Azienda Trasporti Milanesi).

If your arrival to Milano is by train, all train stations have direct connections to the city center via the subway. Sala di Rappresentanza is conveniently located near the Missori metro stop on the M1 red line. Alternatively, the Duomo stop, which serves both the M1 red line and M3 yellow line, is also in close proximity.

Milano is accessible via three primary airports: Milano Malpensa, Milano Linate, and Milano-Bergamo (Orio al Serio). Connections from these airports to Milano are available through trains operated by Ferrovie dello Stato or Trenord, and even via the metro (line M4) for Linate. Private shuttles offer another convenient transportation option. For a hassle-free journey to Malpensa International Airport, taking the train from Piazza Cadorna, situated in the heart of Milano and 15 minuted by metro from the University, is highly recommended.
