Head of Institutional Repositories and EOSC CERN Node coordinator

José Benito is an experienced leader in open-source digital repository technology and an advocate for Open Science. He currently serves as the Head of Institutional Repositories at the CERN IT Department, where he oversees the Research Data Management Platform, InvenioRDM, and several associated services, including CERN's institutional repository, Zenodo, the CERN Open Data Portal, and long-term preservation projects. He also coordinates CERN’s contributions to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), including the EOSC CERN Node during the EOSC Federation Buildup Phase. José, who is also a member of CERN’s Open Science Steering Board, is deeply committed to advancing Open Science and actively engages with the community. He advocates for the use of open-source technology, represents CERN at the OpenAIRE AMKE General Assembly, serves as an EOSC-A Delegate, and has contributed to various international initiatives, including EOSC Task Forces (such as Scholarly Infrastructures for Research Software), Make Data Count, and the DataCite Service Providers group. Before his current role, José helped shape some of CERN’s major open-source projects, including leading the development of Indico, one of the organization’s most successful collaboration platforms.
