The European Commission has adopted the Charter of Access for Industrial Users to Research and Technology Infrastructures, a new initiative designed to improve access for companies, including start-ups and scale-ups, to Europe's world-class research and technology infrastructures, helping accelerate the journey from ideas to market.

The Charter introduces a common set of voluntary principles aimed at improving the visibility, accessibility and quality of services offered by research and technology infrastructures. It focuses on increasing service transparency, simplifying contractual procedures, supporting the secure management of intellectual property, providing tailored support to industrial users, and fostering cooperation and interoperability across infrastructures.

The Charter complements the European Charter for Access to Research Infrastructures, revised in 2024, by specifically addressing the needs of industrial users and strengthening collaboration between research, technology and innovation ecosystems.

Research and Technology Infrastructures across Europe are now invited to voluntarily endorse the Charter, demonstrating their commitment to improving access for industry and contributing to Europe's competitiveness, resilience and technological sovereignty.
