ESFRI Landmark Monitoring 2022-2024 Final Report with Lessons Learnt
01.09.2025

The final report of the ESFRI Landmark Monitoring 2022–2024 has been published, summarising the outcomes of the first pilot round covering 30 ESFRI Landmarks. The report provides a comprehensive overview of the monitoring process, key findings from three monitoring batches, and reflections from the “Lessons Learnt” exercise. It also includes valuable recommendations to guide the design and implementation of future rounds.

The monitoring aimed to support the continued development of ESFRI Landmarks and provide insights into the performance, sustainability, and impact of RIs across Europe. Overall, the process confirmed the scientific excellence and strategic relevance of the Landmarks, while identifying areas for further improvement, particularly in KPI frameworks and long-term funding stability. A step-by-step monitoring manual is also under development to streamline future efforts.
