Silvio Tosatto

Professor at Università degli Studi di Padova, ELIXIR Deputy Head of Node for Italy, Co-Lead of the ELIXIR Cellular and Molecular Research theme 

Silvio Tosatto is Full Professor in Bioinformatics and Principal Investigator at the BioComputing UP lab of the Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Padova. His scientific work centers on the fields of bioinformatics and computational biology, with a special emphasis on the structural and mechanistic aspects of complex systems. His lab has been developing both tools and databases for proteins at different levels, contributing to various international consortia. 

Silvio is currently the Deputy Head of Node of ELIXIR Italy and co-lead of the ELIXIR Data Platform as well as its Machine Learning Focus Group. In ELIXIR’s 2024-28 Scientific Programme, Silvio co-leads the development and implementation of the Cellular and Molecular research theme.
