Hrvoje Meštrić serves as the Director-General of the Science and Technology Directorate in the Croatian Ministry, currently in his second term. He is an expert in research, development, and innovation policy, with over 20 years of experience in project and team management within the public sector. His extensive career also includes roles as a key expert and team leader on several international projects.
Meštrić graduated in physics from the University of Zagreb and later earned his PhD from the Darmstadt University of Technology. He is currently the Croatian delegate to the European Research Advisory Council, Board of Governors of the Joint Research Centre, the Horizon Europe Strategic Committee, the European Space Agency, and the CERN Council.
