D.Sc. (Tech.) Laura Taajamaa is a Senior Ministerial Adviser at the Department for Higher Education and Science Policy at the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, Finland. She is responsible for various aspects of improving the conditions for research, such as research infrastructures, digitalisation of research, high-performance computing and data management as well as STEM strategy.
Taajamaa majored in chemical engineering at Aalto University and her doctoral thesis is related to wood surface chemistry. She has worked in Switzerland, the United States, the United Kingdom and Ireland. Before moving to the Ministry, Taajamaa worked as a senior science adviser at the Research Council of Finland focusing on research funding and science policy analysis.
